DOL Workforce3One Youth Community of Practice

The Employment and Training Administration (ETA) is excited to announce the launch of the Youth Community of Practice (COP) available through ETA’s knowledge sharing and learning platform – Workforce3One.org.

Unlike a static website, the Youth CoP will be an interactive and dynamic platform driven by the needs and interests of its members. Its content will be populated by a blended learning approach to include webinars, Moderated chats, Discussion Threads, Podcasts, Blogs, resources and toolkits.

The Youth CoP will provide a platform for Youth Workforce and Youth Development Professionals to discuss and share promising practices on youth and the workforce’s role in transforming the US economy; provide information on to assist youth in finding the best training, education and careers; and serve as a platform for providing technical assistance to the workforce system.

The Youth CoP will be focused around four topic areas. However as the CoP develops, new topic areas will be added to meet the changing needs of the CoP audience. Topic areas include:

  • Youth Workforce Connections will highlight federal, state, local, and One Stop Career Center promising practices and partnerships; information on understanding the Youth economy; and government policies and incentives driving youth job creation and their impact on the system.
  • Building Youth Talent will highlight strategies which increase the quality of services for Young Offenders and Youth with Disabilities; promising practices from YouthBuild, Pre- Apprenticeships, and Apprenticeship programs; youth workforce training, education, and credentialing models; strategies to assisting young people locate proper employment opportunities; and providing youth populations the supportive and accessible services.
  • Emerging Industries for Youth will provide information on using state and local labor market information to identify Youth opportunities; discuss Youth industry sectors and Youth occupations projections; and provide guidance for connecting to industries; skills, competencies, and requirements of Youth.
  • Hot Topics will provide information on Summer Employment and Training; connecting to Recovery Act funding opportunities; and technology solutions; Social Marketing Tools; and Promising practices for sustainability.
