The Solutions Desk is a service of the Interagency Working Group on Youth Programs (IWGYP) that brings together staff from twelve federal agencies charged with Helping Youth Transition to adulthood. The Interagency Working Group strives to identify and engage organizations that can play a role in improving the coordination and effectiveness of programs serving youth, and to promote initiatives that merit strong interagency collaboration. The Solutions Desk is facilitated and coordinated by the University of Oklahoma National Resource Center for Youth Development, a member of the U.S. DHHS Children’s Bureau Training and Technical Assistance Network, supporting two main resources to promote enhanced collaboration at the federal, state, and local levels:
The Solutions Desk Website offers sample documents, forms, and reports prepared by youth collaboratives, provides information on collaborative models, grant opportunities, links to federal websites, and other valuable resources. The Solutions Desk supports a virtual Community of Practice (CoP) focused on enhancing collaboration with effective practices for the benefit of all youth who experience challenges in transitioning to adulthood. This CoP is open to any collaborative seeking to participate in discussion about the needs of transition-age youth and improved strategies to work across systems to meet those needs. The Helping Youth Transition Community of Practice meets as announced on the third Wednesday of the month by webcast, highlighting topics of interest identified by the community. Featured guests include national level program initiatives, often with representation from the state and local levels to demonstrate how the programs play out at the community level. Webinar invitations include call-in information and are distributed via email to members through the Solutions Desk LISTSERV. To join, send us a request with program information and topic interests. The Interagency Working Group for Youth Programs (IWGYP) includes staff from Federal agencies that support youth programs and services.
